Nestled in the heart of Sarajevo’s Baščaršija, Hotel Europe has embodied elegance and cultural heritage since 1882. Built by merchant Ješua Salom and designed by architect Karel Pařík, it quickly became a distinguished meeting point of East and West. Beneath its courtyard lie the remains of Tašlihan, a 15th-century Ottoman caravanserai and national monument. Over the years, the hotel has hosted royalty, world leaders, artists, and icons — from Josip Broz Tito and Jawaharlal Nehru to Angelina Jolie, Brad Pitt, and Nobel laureate Ivo Andrić, a frequent guest of room 701.With its Neo-Renaissance and Art Nouveau architecture, Hotel Europe blends the elegance of Vienna and Prague with Sarajevo’s soul.
